Franco Icardi's book is the fruit of a thorough and articulated study and focuses on the historical roots of a vast area that covers Piedmont, Lombardy and Liguria taking us on a journey through places where so many little local homelands become the cornerstone of a study that spans from the ancient Greeks and Romans to our days.
The Ligures are the main theme of the book. These populations settled down and lived for centuries in the area stretching from Provence to the Veneto and from Tuscany to the Alps, taking different names depending on the geographical areas where they settled. It affords an overview of the customs, methods and ways of life linked to the great events and changes that made history and that at the same time represent our roots, which belong also to the Province of Cuneo, which has granted its patronage to this book. It is, therefore, a work of great historical and cultural value, to which I wish the best of success, as the author's commitment and many years of research aimed at "seeking common roots from the Stone Age to the present day" deserve.
